يسود العالم العربي أزمةُ أمل. فالثورات التي وعدت بنيل الحرّيات والكرامة وتحقيق الازدهار الاقتصادي إما سُحقت إما تحوّلت إلى حروب أهلية عنيفة. وقد ضيّقت قيودٌ جديدة مفروضة على الإعلام، من رقابة وتخريب إلى قتل الصحافيين حتّى، الخناقَ على المساحة المتاحة لحرّية التعبير.
والسبيل الوحيد للخروج من هذا الوضع هي بالتخاطب، حول هويّاتنا وحول التغييرات التي نريدها في مجتمعاتنا، من أجل أن نفهم بشكل أفضل القوى التي تؤثّر في مجتمعاتنا، مثل الدين والاقتصاد والأيديولوجية السياسة والنشاط الجنسي.
لقد بنينا في رصيف 22 مساحة افتراضية تتحلّى فيها الأفكار بالحرّية لتشكّل ملاذاً مؤقتاً بينما تبقى المساحات الحقيقية في ساحاتنا وشوارعنا بعيدة المنال.
نطلب منكم أن تدعمونا، وأن تدعموا وسائل الإعلام العربي المستقلة الأخرى فيما نواجه صعوبات لنتصرّف على حريّتنا وسجيّتنا. نصف مساهماتكم تُدفع لكتّابنا، وهم رجال ونساء شباب يتحدّون المخاطر ليرووا قصصنا. أما الباقي فسيخصّص لجعل رصيف 22 صوتاً أقوى وأشمل.

There is a crisis of hope in the Middle East. The revolutions that once promised freedom, dignity and economic prosperity have either been crushed or transformed into brutal civil wars, brother against brother. New restrictions on the media, from censorship and intimidation to outright murder of journalists, have closed off the space for free expression.
The only way out is for us to talk to each other – about our identities, the changes we want to see in our societies, to try and better understand the forces like religion, economy, political ideology and sexuality, that shape our communities.
Here at Raseef22, we have built a virtual space where ideas are free – a temporary refuge while the physical spaces of our squares and streets are off-limits.
